Why Choose Power Sonics?

Power Sonics markets a powerful line of ultrasound equipment and systems. The personnel at Power Sonics have been designing and manufacturing this type of equipment since our original patents from the late 1950's while at Westinghouse.
The current generations of this equipment incorporate the latest designs to enhance the performance of the ultrasound cavitation of the transducers and latest advances in generator design.

There is much advertised throughout the industry promoting high frequencies, off-resonance frequencies, multiple frequencies, scanning and sweeping frequencies and other design features of ultrasound equipment to improve cleaning in tight clearance areas and/or inhibit damage from low frequency and high power ultrasound equipment.
Ultrasonics for cleaning is a mechanical scrubbing action meant to physically impinge the surface of the part to remove contaminants. If thorough cleaning was easy, ultrasound need not be considered. If, however, thorough cleaning or stubborn contamination removal or faster cleaning are required then powerful cavitation is vital.
While more intense cavitation can cause more damage than low intensity cavitation, the real culprit is not the power insomuch as exposure time.

Since ultrasonic cavitation is non selective in use, it is vital to get the part exposed to the highest power intensity for the shortest exposure time possible. Cleaning should typically be done in seconds rather than minutes for the majority of cleaning applications. Extended exposure time, even in the lowest intensity cavitation, causes more part damage in more applications than high intensity cavitation with short exposure times.

This is precisely what Power Sonics does. We build the highest power density ultrasonic designs powered at low frequencies at, or near, resonant frequencies in order to maximize the cavitation intensity. This allows us to apply faster, more uniform cleaning without damage to the product.

We have been doing process application work for over forty years and properly applied, Power Sonics ultrasound equipment has successfully performed virtually every type of aqueous cleaning application.

Power Sonics first analyzes an application to develop the proper process for the application. This includes the number and duration of stages, chemistries and other factors specific to the problem. No two application problems are identical because of the unique conditions of each customer's production conditions.

Next, we propose the equipment necessary to perform the process as developed but tailored to the specific production needs as defined by the customer.

You will notice as you look at the product offerings of Power Sonics that there is a selection of standard modular equipment as well as many custom installations. This is to allow Power Sonics to better fit the equipment into the real world production requirements of the customer.

Power Sonics is unique in industry with forty years of:

  • highest power ultrasound equipment
  • application analysis and process development experience
  • aqueous cleaning experience
  • ultrasonic equipment design and build
  • custom system application, design and build

Power Sonics looks at each application uniquely as each application has distinctive differences and will propose equipment that best fits the needs of the particular application, rather than conform to a generic bill of material. That is why Power Sonics will usually develop a different bill of material than any competitor.

Additionally, Power Sonics offers many systems-related services that provide the opportunity for the customer to receive a more complete installation package.
